# How to build an HSK study plan you can follow

Build your HSK study plan around one repeatable cycle: learn a small amount, use it in context, check your understanding, then revisit what needs work. Choose a pace you can sustain instead of an untested promise about your exam date.

## Start with your actual goal

Decide whether you are building a foundation, returning to a level, or preparing for a booked exam. If you have an exam date, confirm its version and requirements with the test center before choosing materials.

Choose a manageable amount of study time that fits an ordinary day. Your starting knowledge and available time matter more than copying someone else's timetable.

## Give each session a job

Start by recalling something from your last lesson. Study a small set of words and a sentence pattern, then listen to or read a dialogue using that language. Finish with a quiz or a short self-check.

- Recall: try a previous word or sentence without looking.
- Learn: work through the next guided lesson.
- Apply: read or listen to the dialogue and explain its meaning.
- Review: make a note of the specific pattern you need to revisit.

## Review a level without abandoning the lessons

Take practice assessments periodically to identify gaps. A repeated mistake is a useful pointer: return to the relevant vocabulary or grammar, work through an example, and try again after reviewing.

In Xue Chinese, lessons, dialogues, quizzes, and level assessments share one HSK 3.0-aligned path. Use missed questions to choose what to revisit in the course.

## Make room for real exam preparation

App practice supports study; it does not replace official test information. Before your exam, use official sample materials and check timing, required sections, and test-day instructions. Avoid treating a single mock score as proof that you will pass.
