# HSK 3.0: what's new and how to study

HSK 3.0 is the revised Chinese Proficiency Test framework. Its syllabus connects communication tasks and topics with vocabulary, grammar, and Chinese characters. Xue Chinese turns that framework into guided Mandarin lessons and practice.

## What changed in HSK 3.0?

The new HSK expands the six-level framework into three stages and nine levels. Its examination syllabus describes the communication tasks, topics, vocabulary, grammar, and Chinese characters learners are expected to use. HSK 3.0 names the revised framework; HSK 3 names a proficiency level.

## What HSK 3.0-aligned means in Xue Chinese

Xue Chinese's original lessons are aligned with the HSK 3.0 syllabus. You study vocabulary and grammar, use them in scene dialogues, and check your understanding with quizzes and listening and reading practice. The curriculum page lists the available level courses.

Alignment describes the learning framework. It does not mean official endorsement, an official exam paper, or a guarantee that every question format matches the test you have booked.

## Check your exam before choosing a word list

Different resources may use different HSK syllabus editions. Do not assume a level number or vocabulary count makes two courses equivalent. Check the version, scope, and assessment requirements with your test center.

Before booking, confirm the exam version, format, speaking requirements, and syllabus with your test center. Use official sample questions alongside app practice to prepare for the test you will actually take.

## Choose a path you can use today

If you are starting Mandarin, begin with the HSK 1 foundation. If you already have some Chinese, explore the course structure and try the first unit of your chosen level free. Use the lessons and practice to find gaps alongside the official syllabus for your goal.
